Dave Skolnick, KO4MI, S/V Auspicious
Dave is a degreed naval architect and marine engineer with experience in commercial, military, and civil vessel design, construction, operation, and service-life extension. A good deal of his experience has addressed communication issues ranging from very low bandwidth links to integration of off-board sensors over very fast connections.
An avowed radio geek, Dave has been a licensed amateur radio operator for over 35 years. He has personal experience with HF/SSB, Iridium and Globalstar satellite phones, and Inmarsat terminals from his own and other recreational boats. He maintained a daily e-mail distribution over SSB using Pactor while crossing the Atlantic in 2006, and during recent offshore trips from Annapolis to and from the Bahamas, and Annapolis to New England. Dave is active on ham and marine nets. As 'Auspicious Works' he provides installation, trouble-shooting, and consulting for communication systems on recreational boats.
