Considering long term and/or long distance cruising? Perhaps you’ve wondered if you should even think about it. Do you enjoy cruising and just like the occasional refresher? If so, you’ll want to attend this webinar presented by George and Lynn Stateham, experienced cruisers who just returned from their seventh extended cruise.

Their presentations are noted for being informative, lively, and interesting. They called their first cruise their “Freshman Year.” Now they’re graduate students, but emphasize that they’re still learning. Their experiences are recent enough to relate well to new cruisers.

A few of the topics covered are:

  • Getting along in 38’ without yelling
  • Provisioning
  • Managing the ICW
  • Spares, tools, and repairs
  • Planning and practicing
  • Watch Systems that work for two people
  • Safety aboard
  • Weather forecast resources
  • Cruising with pets
  • Offshore versus inside legs
  • Cruising etiquette
  • The Bahamas as a first cruise destination

George and Lynn Stateham have planned and led charter excursions to the Chesapeake and BVIs and have planned and led diving expeditions from the Maldives to the Caribbean. They’ve completed seven extended Bahamas cruises, as well as completing multiple east coast and Gulf Stream transits.

Lynn has over 30 years experience on the water in both sail and power cruising and is trained in Indian, Chinese, Malay, and Cordon Bleu cuisine. She is a Dive Master and has earned her General Ham License (KI4TWP). George has over 40 years on and in the water and has experience in both sail and power. He has his 50 ton USCG Master with sail and towing endorsements and is a Master Diver with 10 years as an active instructor. George has also earned his Ham General License (KI4TWO).
