Course Description: Whether sail or power, most boaters depend on their engines these days. Diesel engines can and should be among the most reliable machines ever built, but they only perform reliably when properly understood and maintained. Join Mark Kish, Mechanical and Electrical Service Supervisor at Larsen Marine in Waukegan, Illinois, on lower Lake Michigan, as he demystifies the modern marine diesel engine and how to keep it purring along for you.
Mark will discuss fuel systems, fuel filters, and bleeding techniques; engine and transmission oil and filter maintenance; air filter maintenance; electrical and cooling system maintenance; impeller replacement and more. He’ll provide pointers on service intervals for all components, as well as tips to help simplify your own maintenance efforts and pointers to better understand some of the areas, like shaft alignment and valve adjustment, where you may want to bring in a trained technician to assist.
If your boat has diesel power or a diesel gen set, this webinar is for you.
